In some areas of the states of Abia and Enugu, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has immediately halted further results collation.
Recall that on March 19, 2023, thugs broke into the INEC office in the Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State and held its staff hostage while the LGA’s governorship election results were being tallied.
The national commissioner and chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, Barr, signed a statement on Monday that was released from the organization’s national headquarters in Abuja. In a statement to Festus Okoye, the Commission emphasized the need to review the results from Enugu State’s two outstanding local government areas, Nsukka and Nkanu East.
Okoye stated that the review will start as soon as the procedure is finished.
A portion of the claim is as follows:.
“The Commission met today, Monday, March 20, 2023, and discussed how the nationwide governorship and state assembly elections that were held on March 18, 2023, went.
“Following the meeting, the Commission decided to immediately halt further collation of the governorship election results in some parts of Abia and Enugu States. “.
