At a voting location in Lagos state, a Yoruba deity known as “Ara Orun” (People of Heaven) was photographed casting his ballot while dressed in his full ceremonial garb.
The mask was given instructions on how to thumbprint on the ballot at a polling place.
Ara Orun, who were regarded as lesser African gods and goddesses with superpowers, were said to have descended directly from Heaven.
Different responses have been elicited by a picture of the Yoruba god casting his ballot in human form.
See the section below on reactions.
