Jamie Carragher, a former Liverpool player, has urged Tottenham Hotspur to fire manager Antonio Conte “tonight” in light of the shocking outburst he had at his team’s players following their Premier League match-up with Southampton that ended 3-3.
When Ivan Perisic scored the visitors’ third goal to make it 3-1 with 15 minutes left at St. Mary’s, Tottenham appeared to be taking a significant step toward UEFA Champions League qualification.
Theo Walcott and James Ward-Prowse, however, helped Southampton eventually tie the score.
After the game, Conte was furious with the Tottenham players and ripped into them in his post-game press conference, accusing them of lacking heart.
Carragher, however, thinks Spurs ought to fire Conte and end his suffering.
Carragher posted on Twitter that Conte wants to be fired during this international break.
Spurs should simply end his suffering tonight.
“His point about Spurs not having won for a while is true, but you don’t speak that way about your own team.
“Especially when you’re getting paid fortunes by them! The improvement in Arsenal this season after finishing above them last season kills a lot of his arguments. “.
