The claims of widespread voter intimidation and violence during the State governorship election on Saturday have been refuted by Idowu Owohunwa, the commissioner of police in Lagos State.
The Lagos commissioner who made this statement yesterday in an interview with Channels Television also mentioned that police officers mostly responded to violations reported in different parts of the State.
His words were as follows.
“Because what I tell you is not motivated by sentiment, by political affiliation, or by emotion, I am in a position of authority to tell you practically what is happening on the ground.
Yes, there were reported cases of security breaches, and yes, we responded to the majority of them. Yes, in some instances, it will naturally affect the electoral process, but I can confirm that it is not widespread, even though it was disrupted in some cases. “.
