Siva Moodley, a pastor from South Africa, was finally laid to rest after passing away in 2021.
It was reported that church members kept his body for 579 days after his death while they awaited his resurrection.
Moodley, 53, who founded The Miracle Centre in Johannesburg’s north, passed away on August 15, 2021, after becoming ill.
No Christian should pass away from illness, the late pastor used to preach. “.
The funeral took place on March 16, 2023, in Gauteng.
IOL claims that Moodley’s family had kept his body at a mortuary in Johannesburg ever since he passed away in the hopes that he would come back to life.
According to IOL, after his passing, his friends and family would come to the funeral home to pray for his resurrection.
Martin du Toit, the manager of the funeral home at the time, asked the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court for permission to have Moodley interred or cremated. The matter, however, hadn’t yet been scheduled for a hearing.
The church has continued to operate normally since Moodley’s passing, with his wife Jessie, son David, and daughter Kathryn Jade leading the services. Additionally, social media platforms stream live video of the services.
According to reports, neither the church nor the congregation have publicly acknowledged his passing on social media or disclosed his whereabouts. His social media pages, particularly Facebook and Twitter, are active, and daily posts are made that appear to be from him.
The Miracle Centre staff declined to comment to the media. They claimed that a policy they had in place prohibited them from doing so.
