According to the Nigeria Police Force, the alleged threat made against Igbos in the State by Musiliu Akinsanya, better known by his stage name MC Oluomo, the chairman of the Lagos State Parks Management Committee, is nothing more than a joke.
In a recent party gathering with the theme “Lagos rising,” Mc Oluomo reportedly warned Igbo voters in the State to stay inside on March 18 if they weren’t going to vote for the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).
Following the statement, social media was flooded with condemnation of MC Oluomo’s action from Nigerians, party leaders, and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
However, the police responded to MC Oluomo’s threats. Force spokesman Adejobi Olumuyiwa said, “I want to believe that the statement by Mc Oluomo is a joke,” on Channels Television’s 2022 Verdict on Friday.
Adejobi asserts that it is everyone’s fundamental human right to vote and be voted for and that no one has the authority or audacity to tell Nigerians not to cast their ballots.
He declared that the Lagos Police Commissioner and MC Oluomo both responded to the situation, and that as a result, Lagosians should cast their votes for the candidate of their choice.
The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the comment, according to Adejobi’s statement.
He stated:.
“I saw a video of MC Oluomo and one mama Chidinma, an Igbo woman, dispelling that threat, saying it isn’t real and was just a joke he was telling with a particular woman. So, let’s treat it as a joke as he did.
But nobody has the authority or audacity to forbid Nigerians from casting ballots; this is improper and not permitted. Let’s just leave it at the fact that it’s untrue since MC Oluomo has come out to refute it.
Lagosians should cast their votes for the candidate of their choice because the commissioner of police in Lagos and MC Oluomo both refuted the claim. “.
