Zamfara State’s Kafi Local Government Area has voiced concern that the military assault on Turji’s camp may have a negative impact on them.
Mahmud Shinkafi, who identified himself as the group’s commander, told a BROOMHOME correspondent in Zamfara that they had become weary of frantically rushing from one place to another in quest of protection.
Shinkafi claimed that Turji, the leader of the bandits, has been defending their territory against attacks by other bandits’ groups.
Actually, since Turji started talking to the state government, we have been urging a relative peace, thus we are uncomfortable with the attack on his encampment.
According to the source, Turji’s gang has not attacked anyone in the axis since he has upheld law and order in accordance with the agreements he has made with the state administration.
The government must be aware that we are on the receiving end and refrain from taking any actions that may harm us.
“We are not encouraging banditry, but we are attempting to defend ourselves against banditry.”
The villagers expressed their regret that the attack on Turji’s camps may have an impact on them either directly or indirectly, as they have not seen any attacks by Turji’s gang in the previous six months.
They pleaded with the government to let sleeping dogs lie because the villages had been conducting their legal business without being bothered.
“Since we no longer protest terrorism, we are pleading with Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle to let Bello Turji alone.”
“Now that Turji has told his boys not to attack anyone in the farms or at home, we can relax and carry on with our farming as usual.
