The governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, has urged spiritual leaders to pray for ongoing peace and long-term progress in the region.
The Governor made the request while speaking with Muslim and Christian clerics in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State.
While praising religious leaders for their efforts to promote harmony and peaceful coexistence in the state, the governor also gave them instructions to pray for divine intervention in the ongoing flood calamity wreaking havoc across the nation.
Buni also reminded the clerics of the necessity of praying to God for help in reviving the state’s faltering economy so that the state might carry out more honorable initiatives that would better the lives of its citizens.
He urged them to inform their supporters of the necessity of obtaining Permanent Voters’ Cards in order to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming general elections.
Ahmad Lawan Miirwa, speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, also emphasized the critical roles that religious leaders must play in assuring the protection, security, and direction of their followers for a meaningful growth.
The purpose of the gathering, according to the Special Adviser on Religious Affairs, Ustas Babagana Kyari, and the Commissioner of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Mala Musti, was to organize religious leaders to give prayers for stability and sustained growth in the state.
