Yobe State’s Governor Mai Mala Buni has urged for increased cooperation between the state’s and the North-security East’s agencies in order to address regional security issues.

When he opened the recently conducted third quarter security meeting of State Directors of the DSS in the North East in Damaturu, the Governor made the decision.

The governor made the observation while being represented by his deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, that such cooperation had led to the operational accomplishments noted in the state and the region.

Buni also praised the state’s security organizations for their enormous sacrifice in putting an end to the Boko Haram insurgency, which lasted for roughly 13 years.

The governor, who nostalgically recalled how Damaturu had been deserted by residents prior to 2015 because of the disturbing activities of insurgents, claimed that peace has now been restored thanks to President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.

He characterized the gathering as timely and asserted that it will significantly enhance the nation’s security against all types of criminal activity.

According to Inusa Abdulkadir, Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yobe Command, the conference is intended to discuss security-related topics, as well as the roles of various stakeholders, including the media, academic institutions, sister security agencies, vigilante groups, and traditional leaders who work together to maintain peace and safety in the state.

The Director noted that some residents needed psycho-social support in order to prevent potential law and order problems that could create new security risks because they had experienced trauma during the insurgency.

He expressed his gratitude to the Yobe State administration and its representatives for their assistance and collaboration, which, in his opinion, had contributed to the achievement of operational accomplishments.

His Royal Highness, the Emir of Fika and Chairman of the Yobe State Council of Traditional Rulers, Dr. Muhammad Ibn Abali Muhammad Idrissa, praised the security agencies’ contributions to the restoration of peace and security in the state and pledged to continue supporting and working with them.
