Mr. Udom Emmanuel, the governor of Akwa Ibom State, has lamented the extent of moral decay in society, particularly among men.
He urged parents, educators, and religious leaders to invest more time and energy in educating the kids, especially the boys.
The Family Empowerment Youth Re-orientation Pact Initiative, FEYReP, was also praised by the governor for its efforts to change the narrative through advocacy and other life-changing initiatives.
At FEYReP’s seventh anniversary celebration on Friday in Ibom Hall, Uyo, Governor Emmanuel made this statement. He praised his wife for filling in for the underprivileged and expressed happiness with the difference she has done over the past seven years.
He voiced disappointment over parental sexual abuse of children while also assuring FEYRep, the wife’s favorite project, of his steadfast support in the battle against gender-based violence.
“The high level of moral degeneration in our society is worrying, and parents, religious groups, and traditional institutions should rise to the task of training the children, especially boys, as this would help control the threat in the society,” he said.
“I will keep assisting her Excellency in the State’s ongoing fight against Gender-Based Violence,” I said.
Her Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel, who spoke earlier, pledged support for impoverished families, youth re-orientation, and the fight against GBV.
