In Katsina, female pupils outperformed male students in the 2021 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

At the Girl Education Project (GEP-III) concluding ceremony on Thursday in Katsina, Commissioner for Education Prof. Badamasi Lawal announced this.

The official credited the government’s dedication to empowering girls through educational initiatives for the performance.

The state government financed for 18,321 students to take the WASSCE in 2021; 10,441 of them were male and 7,880 female.

Results showed that 5,632 male students received credit in the English language, or 54% of them, compared to 4,627 female students who received credit, or 58.7%.

Lawal reported that 5,678 girls received credit for mathematics, compared to 4,726 boys.
