Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, expressed sadness about the significant prevalence of vices that are, in his words, “man-made” in Nigeria.
He continued by saying that the nation already had all of the vices in the world.
Atiku made this statement on Thursday at the opening of the 5.4 km of drainage and 9.5 km of ring road 111, both built by an indigenous engineering firm called Hensek Integrated Services.
Although he asked everyone to work together to make it happen, the presidential candidate, who was represented by the governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, expressed hope that Nigeria may be saved again with the help and prayers of the clergy and elders.
He said that Nigerians are tired of what is occurring in this country and urged party members and Nigerians to unite to help the country overcome its problems.
Atiku urged the populace to assist in bringing the PDP back to power by pointing out that the party has skilled leaders who can restore Nigeria’s pride of place in the comity of nations.
He asserted, “We are tired of what is occurring in this nation; all the vices in the world are here in Nigeria, but with the help and intercession of our elders and clergy, we shall overcome this issue we created for ourselves.
“This party has excellent and competent leaders and members who can bring about the ideal nation. I commend the governor on making such significant advances, which would draw business to Akwa Ibom state. I’m grateful to you and God Almighty for allowing me to be a part of history by launching this project in the state.
“We are appreciative of the governor’s vision in designating Akwa Ibom as the hub for agribusiness, aviation, and infrastructure. The presidential candidate who is known as the unifier has asked me to inform you of his commitment to ensuring national unity from north to south for the benefit of the nation.
The governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, thanked the populace and the community as a whole for their assistance with the road’s construction during his speech.
“We fixed the commissioning tonight on purpose so that you would see the true colors for the people’s enjoyment.”
We are standing in the middle, and the building on the left is named for my former DG, the late Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga (rtd), the first indigenous governor of Akwa Ibom. The building to the right bears Dr. Clement Isong’s name, a previous governor. I applaud the governor of Adamawa, Governor Fintiri, who is ably representing our presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum and the governor of Sokoto State, praised the governor for his accomplishments in his message of goodwill.
“We are here to open 9.5 kilometers of ten lanes; 9.5 times ten equals around 95 kilometers; you know what that means. Almost everywhere, including aviation, infrastructure, capital human development, education, and health, my brother, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has done well.
Former Senate President Senator Bukola Saraki said he was in the state to make history and that Governor Udom Emmanuel’s performance was proof of the power of PDP governors.
The fact that you are a PDP governor should not surprise the people of Nigeria, he remarked. You are educating Nigerians about the capabilities and activities of the PDP in the state. You don’t need to speak anymore, Nigerians. Let the PDP lead the way if you want a productive nation.
