2nd Lockdown Likely in Nigeria as Daily Cases of Coronavirus Rises to 796

LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has confirmed  796 new cases of Coronavirus in the country, bringing all time cases to 72,140. But out of the 72,140  all time cases,  65,722  patients have been treated successfully and discharged, while  1,190 others could not survive the pandemic. Active cases in Nigeria has soared to 5228.

Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, FCT-258,  Lagos-248,  Kaduna-117,  Katsina-52,  Ogun-27,  Kwara-23,  Gombe-22, Adamawa-17,  Plateau-15, Kano-6,  Rivers-2, Ondo-2,  Ekiti-2,  Nasarawa-2, Sokoto-2  andTaraba-1, making 796 new cases of Coronavirus.

“NCDC @NCDCgov 796 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria; FCT-258,  Lagos-248,  Kaduna-117,  Katsina-52,  Ogun-27,  Kwara-23,  Gombe-22, Adamawa-17,  Plateau-15, Kano-6,  Rivers-2, Ondo-2,  Ekiti-2,  Nasarawa-2, Sokoto-2  andTaraba-1 ; 72,140 confirmed ; 65,722 discharged ; 1,190 deaths”, the NCDC has announced.

 

Meanwhile a new landmark has been reached in the total number of confirmed cases globally. There are now  70, 025, 535 confirmed cases of Coronavirus worldwide,  1, 590, 323 lives have been lost to the virus, while 45, 070, 225 others have been treated successfully and discharged. There are now 23, 364,  987 active cases of Coronavirus worldwide based on current statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University(JHU) Maryland.

According to JHU, the United States remains the most afflicted, reporting  15, 758, 661 confirmed cases,  294, 056 patients have been killed by the virus, while 5, 985, 047 others have recovered, leaving the USA with 9, 479, 558 active cases of Coronavirus(232, 017 new cases), followed by India which has documented  9, 796, 769 all time infections,  142, 182 patients have passed on while 9, 290, 834 others have been treated successfully and discharged, leaving India with 363, 753 active cases of Coronavirus(29, 398 new cases) and Brazil which has reported 6, 781, 799 confirmed cases, 179, 765 deaths and 6, 043, 219  recoveries, leaving Brazil with 558, 815  active cases of Coronavirus(52, 947 new cases).

Russia still remains the 4th country most hit by the Coronavirus pandemic, reporting  2,574, 319 confirmations,  45, 370 patients are already dead, while   2,041, 006 others have survived the pandemic, leaving Russia with 487, 943 patients still down with COVID-19, hoping for the best of medical care to remain alive(28, 206 new cases), followed by France which has confirmed  2, 405, 127  all time cases,  56, 671 deaths, while 181, 581 others have been discharged, leaving France with 2, 166, 875 active cases of Coronavirus(13, 608 new cases) and the United Kingdom which has reported 1, 814, 393 all time cases,  63, 603 patients are no more, while only  3, 798 patients have been assisted  medically to get back on their feet, leaving the UK with 1, 746, 992 patients still down with the pandemic, praying for divine intervention to keep living(21, 812 new cases).

Italy remains the 7th country worst hit by the virus, reporting 1, 805, 873 confirmed cases,  63, 387 patients have been killed by the virus, while 1, 052,163 others have recovered, leaving Italy with 690, 323 active cases of  Coronavirus(18, 726 new cases), followed by Spain which has documented 1, 730, 575 confirmed cases,  47, 624 patients are no more, while  150, 376  patients remains the constant number quoted to have recovered by authorities in Spain, leaving the country with 1, 532, 575 patients still down with Coronavirus, hoping for the best of care to remain alive(10, 519 new cases) and Argentina which has reported  1, 482, 216 confirmed cases,  40, 431 deaths and  1, 318,187 recoveries, leaving Argentina with 123, 598  active cases of Coronavirus(6,994 new cases).

Colombia is the 10th country worst hit by the Coronavirus pandemic with 1, 399, 911  all time cases,  38, 484 patients have lost their lives to the virus,  1, 296, 420 others are now hale and hearty, leaving Colombia with 65, 007 active cases(7,778 new cases) followed by South Africa, the 18th country worst hit with  845, 083  confirmations,  22, 952 patients have kicked the bucket, while 758, 373 others  have been treated successfully and discharged, leaving South Africa with 63,758 active cases of Coronavirus(8,319 new cases) and China where the pandemic was first reported.

China now the 72nd country worst hit by the virus has reported 94, 111 all time cases, 4, 748 deaths and 87, 803 recoveries, leaving China with 1, 560 active cases of Coronavirus #coronaviruschina. Starconnect Media reporting for:
